About Firefly Falls
Our journey began a long time back when Chase, our Chief Luminary of Firefly Falls, use to frequent the area visiting his family as a young boy and fell in love with the area for all the outdoor activities it offered and the natural beauty.
Chase and his wife Jess come from a Safari Lodge background, starting as guides and eventually working their way up to operational management, running some of Southern Africa's top Safari Lodges, even buiding a stunning lodge in the Okavango Delta. They took their experience and backed themselves to create what we now know as Firefly Falls in December 2020. A tough time to start indeed, but with patience and passion we have allowed for the market and our clients to mould what we have at Firefly Falls accordingly, with up cycled materials used on units to create some really unique stays. Our glamping tents are basic and not over the top, rather designed with the thought that clients would prefer to spend their money on activities in the area and save on spending a big whack of money on an over designed and luxurious unit they only need to sleep in.
Sustainability and Community Involvement
There is also a strong culture being built into Firefly Falls to drive a circular economy with some of the tours we have created as well as the offerings we have on site. We have numerous community projects and a dedicated social development team to keep us true to these values. We have volunteer programmes that assist the local community ECD centre (Early Childhood Development) whereby we host internaional studies who both offer their time and funding to the school.
We also have a community gardens network that we purchase fresh good straight from their garden and assist where possible with new seedlings, compost and packages. We use local laundry services, local soap making specialists and many more community micro businesses. And to top it all off, we assist young guides to get funding for training and certification as well as mentoring them. We could talk for hours on this subject so it might be best to book a unit and join us for a drink in our lapa to learn more about what we do.
Firefly Falls is also a proudly certified Biocamp, making a promise that we will forever strive to be better with our operation and policies for a better future.
